BIESIADA 2022

For their efforts in celebrating, supporting and promulgating Polish Culture, the Polish Arts Club of Buffalo, is pleased to announce a Biesiada honoring Michael Zachowicz and Sophie Hodorowicz Knab.

The Beisiada is an old Polish word meaning a feast or party.  As is the custom in the Polish Arts Club of Buffalo, the feast can take on the characteristics of a roast.  Guests are welcome to toast the honored guests and share first hand experiences.

Michael is the 2021 Awardee.  A fountain of knowledge on the History of Poland as well as Poland’s contribution to the musical genre, he is always eager and willing to share his knowledge.  A church Organist and dedicated Chopin Singing Society member, Michael has been involved in Polonia from his youth.  Many Polish American organizations have benefited from his dedication.

Sophie is the 2022 Awardee.  Sophie earned her master’s degree at the University of Buffalo and is professor emeritus from SUNY Niagara County Community College in Western New York.  She has published in professional journals on health and wellness issues.  She is the author of six books on various aspects of Polish history, culture, customs and traditions. She is a contributor to the Am-Pol Eagle and the Polish American Journal..  She has shared her family traditions on a WNED broadcast focusing on Polish Christmas traditions.  She has been a guest lecturer at the Smithsonian Institution and has spoken at various conferences across the United States over the years. 

The Biesiada with be held at Joseph’s Country Manor, 1880’s Room, on September 18 from 12:30 – 3pm.  For reservations at $50.00 per person, complete the attached response card and mail to Robert Fronckowiak, P.O  Box 29, West Seneca, NY 14224, or call 716-364-1447.
